Inland Waterway Weather Report
Weather Highlights:
- Upper Mississippi/Red/Souris: A weak cold front will move through the region overnight, bringing a low-end chance for thunderstorms. A stronger, more widespread, weather system moves in by Wednesday, bringing widespread rain, heavy at times, to the area. Expect the heaviest rain from southeast Minnesota and areas south.
- Middle Mississippi Valley: A strong low pressure system will track across northern Iowa on Wednesday, brining widespread heavy rain with it. With this system, there is an Enhanced Risk (Level 3/5) with large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes possible. In addition, there is a Slight Risk (Level 2/5) on Wednesday.
- Lower Mississippi Valley: Very active weather will dominate the region the next several days as a stationary weather front lingers in the area. At the same time, a tropical disturbance may move out of northeast Mexico and into the Gulf, further adding to the rainfall totals. Though the overall severe weather threat is low, there is a Moderate Risk (Level 4/5) most days which could lead to widespread flooding.
